As practice for our 6-page research paper in the spring, we will finish the quarter off with a mini-research paper. The driving question will be the same: How does the historical context affect the story of Animal Farm

There are many ways to focus your paper. Clearly you have to talk about its allegorical nature, but you might focus more on the main characters, minor characters, the more abstract ideas and objects.

Your mini-research paper should:

· Have at least 2 resources from the Internet (not Wikipedia).

· Use at least one quote from your research and one quote from the book.

· Use an in-text citation to cite your source.

· Include a works cited page.

· Include a thesis paragraph with an attention-getter, background info and a thesis.

· Include body paragraphs that paraphrase/summarize/quote your research and refer to or quote the text.

· Include a conclusion that restates your thesis, summarizes main points, and leaves us with a final thought.

· Save research and URLs on a google.doc.

· Share a completed draft of over a page + works cited page by next Friday, January 21.

· Be free of plagiarism.

 Step one: Choose your focus and shape as a research question. Ex: What makes Animal Farm an allegory? In what way does Boxer represent the peasant working class of Russia in 1917?

STEP TWO: Find two pieces of research. Read, take notes and put on a google doc. Also cut and paste URLs.

STEP THREE: Create a Thesis and Outline.

Step four: Build a thesis paragraph.

Step five: Build body paragraphs that support your thesis. One or more paragraphs will use your research. One or more paragraphs will talk about how the history affected the Kite Runner story.

Step six: Write a conclusion.

Step seven: Put in in-text citations in the body and write a works cited page.
