Time to practice our skills for Basic Acoustic Properties.
Step 1. Upload a sound to this discussion. The easiest way is the use the "Record/Upload Media" button in the Canvas editor. In the picture below, I’ve highlighted this button in yellow. Make sure the audio consists of one sound (don’t have a music track with lots of different instruments playing at once, etc.)
Step 2. After uploading a sound, respond to a sound of the person who posted directly before you. Your reply should identify the three basic acoustic properties.
- Frequency type: Is it pitched or unpitched?
- Dynamic: How loud or soft is it?
- Timbre: Generate 2-3 words that describe what makes this sound unique.
If you are struggling, post a "help" question in the discussion and any student who provides good feedback will receive 2 bonus points.

Guidelines
- Create your sound with the correct answer for the prompt questions in mind so you can provide guidance to student answers.
- Do not submit a full audio track/music- this type of sound has TOO MANY pitches and noises going on for identification. If you’d like to play an instrument, only make one note or pitch.
- All sounds created and responses submitted should practice proper netiquette– only g-rated sounds. If you are having trouble thinking of a sound, use Dr. B’s
