You are required to submit a 5000 words research proposal.
The aim of the assignment is for you to demonstrate your ability to:
Identify a topic of study based on a problem, question or priority
relevant to practice within your field of studies (e.g. Adult or Mental
Health Nursing)
Defend the selected topic, the research methodology and the design proposed.
Therefore you should;
1. Proposed a topic you wish to investigate. The chosen topic must be related to your field of studies.
You must be able to justify:
· Why the chosen topic is relevant or important to your field of
studies. For instance, if your field of studies is ‘Adult Nursing’, you
need to defend how the chosen topic is relevant or important to adult
nursing care and practice.
· What is/are the current gap within the chosen topic?
· What contribution can the proposed study offer, especially in
enhancing the current nursing practice and care delivered to the
patients within your field of studies?
2. Propose a research methodology and design you plan to adopt to investigate the identified topic.
You must be able to defend:
· The chosen philosophical paradigm (ontology, epistemology and methodology).
· Any ethical issues that may arise in your proposed research method(s) used and indicate how you will address them.
· The validity and reliability of the proposed methods in answering the research topic.
Submission date: 8th March 2022 by 1400hrs
A supervisor will be allocated to you, offering up to 4 hours of
one-to-one tutorial support. You are responsible for making contact and
keeping your supervisor up-to-date with your progress. Your supervisor
can review 25% of your work (1,250 words max), once. To comply with
University guidelines, no draft work can be reviewed after February 22nd
2022.

2. Confidently instigate and manage a project and communicate the
findings and conclusions, as relevant, in a professional manner
3. Demonstrate sound judgements in utilising the different claims
about the nature of nursing knowledge whilst synthesising evidence and
best practice to inform their work
4. Propose an improvement in nursing practice based on sound principles, research evidence and best practice.

· ‘Research Ethics Panel Application’ form provided. Please make
sure you submit your work using the form provided, otherwise a ‘zero’
grade will be awarded for your presentation.
• Be written according to university Level 7 academic writing standard, i.e.:
· Completed, appropriately structured, clearly presented
(including use of tables and figures, if relevant) and grammatically
correct.
· Demonstrate fluent articulation and clarity of expression,
• Be within the word limit.
· The actual word count must be declared in your front page.
• Comply with the university confidentiality policy, i.e. must not
identify any individual or organisation directly or by implication (NMC,
2018). Equally, unless crucial to the argument and/or where the
information is already in the public domain, refer to organisations only
in the most general terms, e.g., an NHS trust.
