In this assignment, you will identify a major piece of equipment, addition of technology, or physical change to the environment  needed to improve patient care. You will compose a paper and complete a sample budget sheet to submit for this assignment. Include the following items in your paper:

Executive summary (estimated 1 page; helpful hint – this is easiest to write as the last item)

• Concisely explain the purpose or scope of the proposal.
• Identify all equipment and personnel involved. Consider the stakeholders who are directly and indirectly impacted by the approval of this project.
• Describe the return on investment the company can expect in financial and/or non-financial aspects.

Background

• What issue are we solving?

• Identify the main  issue or opportunity the proposal is addressing using data where possible (e.g., delays, decreased productivity, increased waste).
• Describe the impact this issue has on patient care.
• State how your proposed solution will address the issue or opportunity and how it aligns with the organization’s strategic priorities.
• What do we need to complete the project?
• What are the technical specifications needed to implement the solution?
• Why is this the most cost-effective solution—short term, and long run?
• Describe your research process that led  you to this particular solution.
• What can we expect during and after project?
• Summarize the timeline and personnel involvement for rollout.
• Characterize how patient care will be affected during rollout.
• Illustrate patient care after solution is in place.

Ideal Outcome

• How and when will the company experience the benefits of the project?
• What tangibles will the company gain from this proposal?
• Describe potential implications of a successful project for other areas of patient care.

Potential Risks

• Characterize the likelihood for the worst-case scenario.
• Set real, accurate expectations for any downtime or disruption.
• Show an emergency backup plan preventing downtime or disruption should it occur.

Alternatives

• What are other solutions that you considered?
• How is the proposed solution better?

Your paper without the spreadsheet should be 4 pages plus the  title page. References are not required.

Once you have completed your paper, download and complete the  for your piece of proposed equipment. Be sure to input information into all columns of the Parts and Equipment section, the Labor Costs section, and the total.
