The suggested format and ideas for the case paper are:
- List the question (with number), then your team response. Remember to give your answer a heading for the table of contents (ToC) – see 8. below.
- There is no need to write definitions from the textbook – just cite them.
- Dont repeat information from the cases, just provide the page number for content that you want to draw my attention to.
- Focus on analysis. I am looking for your insights based on the course readings assigned for the week(s) and other wider (external to the course) reading to assist in your analysis. Integrating concepts in your discussion demonstrates to me that you understand how these concepts can be applied in real world situations. Demonstrating this is important to score a high grade.
- I strongly encourage you to use all assigned materials (readings, videos etc.) in your answers, together with other material/s (external sources) you have found that are relevant.
- Remember to reference all your work and you will need multiple references in your list of references. In answer to the question you are now asking – there is no exact number. Use the heuristic: at least more references than the number of members in your team, and a strong paper will have double that. Also fyi, I don’t count Wikipedia, for example, as an academic reference.
- The OWL at Purdue is a great resource for APA: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.html .
- All questions are weighted equally for all case studies.
- Use headings and sub-headings to make it easy for the reader to follow your arguments, and use figures and tables to illustrate points you want to make in the analysis. I know this isn’t strictly APA, however, headings and sub-headings can really help your reader, in this case me, following your developing arguments and lines of thinking.
- A cover sheet, executive summary and table of contents are needed too.
- Generally it is a good idea to appoint a team member to assemble the case and make sure the case reads as if it is written by one group with common writing styles. A common mistake that should be avoided is the use of I in the text it is a group project.
- Finally the assignment length. For the group cases, I expect a minimum of 15 pages of text to address the case questions – this does not include appendices, ToCs, cover sheets, executive summaries, figures and tables etc.
