Cell Organelles

Purpose

An organism can be just a single cell such as a bacterium or can be made up of trillions of cells like humans. However, each cell is like a machine. It has many parts and each works in concert with the other. In this post, you will demonstrate an understanding of the functions of organelle and how they work together in cells.

Task

This week’s discussion involves one part. Be sure to completely respond to the prompt in your post.

Pick one cell organelle, describe its structure and function and then discuss how it works with another cell organelle. Don’t forget to add a question to get the class engaged in discussion.

NOTE: In order to create discussion "threads" or a continual discussion among groups of students, be sure to add a question at the end of each post. And don’t forget to reply to at least 2 peers.

• Your understanding of the functions of organelles, as demonstrated by your short explanation.
• Your explanation of how two organelles work together in the overall functioning of a cell.
• Your peer responses are substantive and thoughtful and advance the discussion by introducing new insights or perspectives, and/or significantly deepening or broadening the conversation with questions.
• Your use of language: your writing should be clear, well-organized, and free from spelling and grammar errors.
