Assignment Directions:
You will be writing a reflection paper describing your normal, everyday thought processes using the questions
below. There must be at least four different ways of thinking and six different life examples demonstrating
each way of thinking (each question must have two different life examples). These life examples should be
something that is significant for you. You cannot use deciding to go to nursing school as one of the examples.
The ultimate goal of this paper is for you, and only you, to think about your thinking. Please do not have
someone proofread or offer their opinion about your paper. Spelling and grammar are NOT on the grading
criteria so you are free to simply focus on best describing how you think.
1. What do you know about how you think?
– Describe how you think in your everyday life
– Use two life examples to demonstrate how you were thinking at the time in a step by step process
2. “Where does your thinking come from?”
– Provide two different examples. This could be from a person and their way of thinking (if it is, be
sure to describe their way of thinking), a significant life experience, how you were raised, the
culture you grew up in, etc.
– Describe how each person or experience influenced your way of thinking using a life example. These
life examples should demonstrate how you were thinking at the time in a step-by-step process.
3. Describe your conscious efforts in determining/evaluating your thinking. Give one example of thinking
well, and a second example of thinking poorly.
– Must be different examples than in question number one and two.
