A discourse community is a group of people who share an interest in certain topics, share a body of knowledge about those topics, engage in ongoing conversations about those topics, and possess a common vocabulary for discussing those topics. You will write an expository essay that analyzes how the community uses writing. For this assignment, you should analyze the discourse community (your major) the college is preparing you to appropriate/join so that you can become a successful member.
Questions to help you invent ideas at the Prewriting Stage:

Are the articles argumentative? Informative? New ideas? Rehashing of old ideas?

Your paper must be MLA formatted using 12 pt. Times New Roman typeface. The essay should be 1000+ words and use specific evidence to support all assertions. All sources must be accurately cited at the sentence level as well as on a Works Cited page. The first paragraph of your essay must specifically name the discourse community you are analyzing
