This discussion will provide an opportunity for you and your classmates to discuss the types of discrimination that occur in a healthcare workplace. Laws prohibit discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Other areas of potential discrimination include age, disability, pregnancy, and sexual orientation.
- Read Chapter 19 in the Pozgar textbook. Refer to the section beginning on p. 529 of the textbook.
- Choose one area of which you have personal knowledge or experience regarding a specific situation.
- Share the situation and the outcome in the discussion.
- Prepare to discuss: Do you think it was the correct outcome? Why or why not?
- Initial post due by Wednesday. Write a 300-word post addressing the points above. Be sure to include information from appropriate texts with proper citations.
- Replies due by Saturday. After reading the posts of all your fellow students, reply to two fellow students with a minimum 200-word post engaging their initial post. Feel free to ask questions regarding the information they share.
