Buy-in works within the context of organization strategic management by encouraging the buy-in of employees at an organization. People will always disagree with a proposed idea. Everyone does not need to buy-in to an idea to get traction on it, and use change drivers to make the necessary changes at an organization (Kotter & Whitehead, 2010). A manager or leader needs to review the four main ways that someone will object to an idea, with: fear mongering, delay tactics, confusing the main idea with nonsense discussions, and ridiculing or downing the character of the person suggesting the idea (Kotter & Whitehead, 2010). The five ways to counter an objection when presenting an idea at an organization are to: get the attention of the opponents to the idea, get people to support the idea, respect differing viewpoints, work on gaining a majority of supporters for the idea, and always be prepared to counter any objections to the idea with logic and more information as to how the idea could work out (Kotter & Whitehead, 2010).
