TOPIC: Early pregnancy loss; miscarriage
Step 1: Chose a topic of relevance to nursing. Identify a topic in nursing that is of interest to you that is suitable to an evidence-based practice (EBP) project that a hospital nurse might determine needs to be addressed. You may choose from one of the topics listed below or choose one that is of interest to you.
Step 2: Each student will need to include a short paragraph in the PICO(T) assignment stating why this topic is important to nursing (you cannot simply write; I think this topic is important to nursing!!!!! You need to EXPLAIN the rationale and reason the topic is important to nursing which will need to be supported with evidence which means this section of the paper needs to be referenced using correct APA 7th edition in-text citations and then properly referenced in the reference page.
Step 3: Each student will write 5 different types of PICO(T) questions which correspond with your chosen individual topic using the PICO(T) worksheet (see attachment in Blackboard (BB). You must write one of each of the 5 different types of PICO(T) questions listed on the PICO(T) worksheet. Each of the 5 PICOT questions is DIFFERENT but on the same topic!!!! At least two of the question types needs to contain a comparison.
Question #1: Therapy/Treatment/Intervention Question
Question #2: Diagnosis/assessment Question
Question #3: Prognosis Question
Question #4: Etiology/harm Question
Question #5: Meaning or Process Question
Step 4: Once you have written your 5 different types of PICO(T) questions for your individual nursing topic you will then search the literature and locate 5 different research articles that address your personal topic. YOU MUST UPLOAD the full-text article or the link to the full-text article with the assignment. AND THE ARTICLES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA!!!!!!
o Published in the past 5 years so they need to have been published no later than 2/2017
o At least one author needs to be a nurse. I would strongly suggest searching nursing journals for this reason.
o One of the five articles MUST be qualitative.
o Peer Reviewed Journal*
o Each of the chosen articles MUST BE A SINGLE RESEARCH article. WHAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE:
NO Literature reviews,
NO Program evaluations,
NO Regular (aka non-research articles)
NO Practice Guidelines
NO Psychometric evaluations
NO Systematic reviews
NO Meta-analysis or Meta-synthesis
NO Dissertations
If you see that the title of the article has one of these words used in it then you know that it is NOTACCEPTABLE FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT.
*Searching the literature takes A LOT OF TIME!!!!! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO DO THIS ASSIGNMENT because you will not have time to submit the assignment and points are deducted for late submissions se late grade policy in syllabus.
Go to the library and work with the librarians (they are VERY HELPFUL, and they will save you hours and hours of time truthfully). You will need to learn how to use and search databases using the LIRN network available at FNU
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE AN ARTICLE!!!! If the article you locate is not available full text, then find another article that meets the criteria.
DO NOT SUBMIT ARTICLES THAT DO NOT MEET THE ASSIGNMENT CRITERIA AS YOU WILL LOSE POINTS WHICH COULD LEAD TO A FAILING GRADE (this means you must submit a full-text, peer-reviewed, single research article that has a nurse as an author and is relevant to your chosen individual nursing topic. To make sure that you submit a single research article and DO NOT submit the unacceptable types of articles you will need to have read the book assignments and reviewed the available resources in Blackboard
