PART ONE  

After exploring the NAEYC accreditation standards, take sometime to think about the standards. Which two standards resonate with you? Why?(e.g., personal student or teacher experience; issues with parents or siblings;you strongly agree or disagree; it is especially new or for some reason, newinsights emerge; it aligns with your beliefs; it taps into your strengths as aparent or an educator).

These resources should help you think about and understandthree key areas in relationship to the NAEYC accreditation standards.  

1.     The value and importance of implementing thestandards in teaching and the implications for high-quality education.

2.     The importance of the formal and informalclassroom context.

3.     The relevance of culturally aware pedagogy.

       Select two of the10 accreditation standards to be the focus of your discussion paragraphs.

       Your general perspective about the 10accreditation standards as a resource to guide your instruction and classroompractices.

       Clearly, state the two accreditation standardsthat resonate with you.

       Clearly articulate and defend your rationale forselecting these two standards in relation to the importance of context andculture.

       End your paper by prompting other students torespond to a salient question related to the accreditation standards that youselected in a relationship their experiences. Your question or prompt should beengaging and specific. (I will need this question forsomething down the road)

       Length: 2 paragraphs;one for each accreditation standard

       References:  3total references; 1 must be NAEYCand 2 additional scholarly references that correspond with each of yourselected standards

PART TWO

Continues to focus on the 10 NAEYC accreditation standards.

You should select one of the two accreditationstandards that you discussed in your paragraph. Do not change your focusoutside one of the two that you chose for your paragraph.

Explain and Defend the One  accreditation standard

Write a scholarly paper that builds upon and elaborates onyour paragraph. You should include some of your own scholarly and/orprofessional resources that you locate independently.

Your papershould:

Provide an in-depth and narrow scholarly discussion thatdemonstrates your ability to analyze, explain and defend one accreditation standardand the corresponding topics of that standard.

You should use the ideas surrounding the importance ofcontext and culture in your discussion of the Accreditation Standard .

Length: 3 pages, not including title and reference pages

References: Minimum of 5 scholarly references. You canutilize professional resources as well, but these are not included as peer-reviewedscholarly references.
