The summary of a critical article portion must begin with finding a piece of literary criticism.  In other words, you will need to find a scholarly article that has been written ABOUT the work you have chosen.  You will need to use the library’s databases to find an appropriate literary article.  Here is how to find a critical article or essay:

1. Go to the SMC home page.

2. Go to Academics.

3. Click on Library.

4. On the left, you will see an option for DATABASES A-Z.  Click that.

5. Check out these databases to find articles: Academic OneFile, Academic Search

Complete, Bloom’s Literature, Gale Literature, Literary Reference Center, and Literature

Resource Center.

6.Type in the title or title and author of your work and see what articles are generated.
