As researchers, you will describe your research question – identifying variables clearly and evaluating them using the PICO criteria. The grading rubric can be found below.
Your research question paper will include:
- Title page (APA format)
- Two-page paper where you will describe your research question, identify and evaluate the variables and use the FINER criteria to summarize your research question.
- Reference Page(s) – Ensure appropriate APA format for in-text citations and reference page(s)
Cite relevant published reports, best practice guidelines for health professionals and peer-reviewed articles to support your viewpoints (minimum of 2 credible websites and 3 current {< 5 years} peer-reviewed articles). Please cite references according to APA format in your brief.
Research Question – Clearly state your research question. Describe the components of the research question using PICO criteria.
Feasible – Describe the feasibility of your research question. Define and describe the number of participants you will need for your study, the technical expertise required, the affordability of the study, how manageable the study will be and whether it is fundable.
Novel – Describe the novelty of your research study. Briefly summarize previous literature in the research study area to demonstrate how your research question is novel.
Ethical – Describe how ethically sound your research question will be. Identify the potential risk and benefits of participation for your participants. Define the relevant ethical principles associated with your research question.
Relevance – Describe how your research question will be relevant in terms of expanding scientific knowledge and/or relevance to clinical and health policy. Describe the importance and significance of the problem addressed.
