Foundations of Nursing Practice

Assignment: MUST have an introduction and  conclusion, 

An understanding of health systems and policy is essential to nursing. A breadth of knowledge affects the nursing profession at all levels of practice including across the various health care settings and among the specialties. Develop a 14 -15 slide PowerPoint presentation that addresses a topic in health care law.

Evaluate how the law could improve the nursing practice and/or how the law could be improved for the nursing practice. Research data and select at least three (3) sources to cite. Compile the data and include in the class presentation.

Assignment Expectations:

Length: 14 -15 slides; answers must thoroughly address the questions in a clear, concise manner. Title and reference slides do not count towards the minimum slide count.   

Structure:  

   Title slide and reference slides in APA style. (at least 2 slides)

   State the origin(s) of the law:

Title (1 slide)

When did the law originate? (1 slide)

Why did the law come to be? (2-4 slides)

Name the supporters. (1-2 slides)

Describe the initial issues faced with attempting to get the law heard or passed. (3-5 slides)

Name the critics and state why they were not in support of the law, if applicable. (4-6 slides)

How does this law or policy impact or influence nursing practice? (1-3 slides)

References (1 slide)

Additionally, because a good presentation has few words on the slides include a script with the verbiage you would say when presenting; script should be a minimum of 50 words per slide.

References: Use the appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. Include at least three (3) scholarly sources to support your claims.

Format: Save your assignment as a Microsoft PowerPoint document and a Word document (.pptx) and (.doc or .docx) or Open Office Impress.
