Within your response you should:

– Help your readers understand how the film works to persuade its audience. Consider
what type of argument it presents and how it goes about creating that argument How do
the specific cinematic techniques or elements of a film support the message or point it is
making? Point out techniques in such a way as to make a specific point about the way(s)
in which the film exposes its themes.
– Refer to specific moments or scenes in the film to support your points. When you do
so, offer a detailed description of the scene(s) as opposed to merely a summary (i.e. how
is it shot, what aesthetic choices do you notice)
– Include information and direct quotations from at least one additional source, to
supplement/provide depth to your analysis.
Notes:
Dont just make broad generalizations about how great, how ineffective, how confusing,
etc. the techniques are in the film youre analysing. Instead, discuss in detail how the
technique delivers its effect.
Similarly, try to make specific claims about the social commentary.
You might consider the director, producer, and other people vital to the making of the
film. What is the place of this film in the directors career? Does it align with the directors
usual style, or does it move in a new direction?
Some other questions to consider:
– How does the meaning of the film change when seen outside of its culture?
– What characteristics distinguishes the film as being of its particular culture?
