Culture stands for the principles, standards, and idealsover which an organization works and undertakes its business activities. It iscomposed of rituals, traditions, values, and beliefs that are grouped to forman organizational culture.

 

B.  What are two (2)major positive contributions that a positive organizational culture can make toan organization.

The two major positive contributions that a positive organizationalculture can make to an organization are that people tell organizational storiesto make sense of organizational events and changes and to emphasize culturallyconsistent assumptions, decisions, and actions. The second contribution isrecognizing organizational heroes who are people admired for their qualitiesand achievements within the organization.

 

C.  For theorganization discussed in Reading 1.A.: Briefly describe what kinds ofhealthcare goods and services it produces. ( Organizational Mission, Vision,and Values).

The service it provides is adaptability which is the abilityto notice and respond to changes in the organizations environment. The secondis the company mission which is the business reason for existing. Theorganization’s strategic purpose and direction are apparent to everyone in thecompany. There is also a consistent organizational culture where the companyactively defines and teaches organization values, beliefs, and attitudes.

 

 D.  For the organization discussed in Reading1.A.: Briefly describe two (2) characteristics of the existing coreorganizational culture of the healthcare organization that is being described.

The two characteristics are artifacts which are wheremanagers can begin to change corporate culture to change the visible artifactsof their old culture. The second characteristic is beliefs where cultures canbe changed by hiring and selecting people with values and beliefs that areconsistent with the company desired culture.

 

Do you believe that either of these characteristics may havea negative effect on organizational operations and success?

I think without proper leadership artifacts can have anegative impact on organizational operation and success which can become acompany’s biggest liability.
