A thesis statement should be clear in the introduction. For instance, the thesis statement of this paper would briefly state WHY you agree that the United States needs to fight for Cuba, and have a presence around the world.
In the body of the paper, explain how the United States got to this point. (I.E, what events led up to the Spanish American War, what role does industrialization play in needing to expand, etc). Explain the views of the isolationist ( also called anti- imperialists, those that believed that United States should not be involved in world affairs) and the interventionists (those that believed it was in the best interest for the United States to be involved). After stating each sides position, you must decide whether you are an isolationist or a interventionalist. Be sure to explain your decision. Use historical evidence to back up your decision.
