Anthony, a 15-year-old juvenile, is caught shoplifting two cans of spray paint from a local convenience store. When speaking with the loss prevention officer, Anthony boasts that he is an artist and was going to use the spray paint to paint up a local liquor store. He says that he and other friends commit acts of graffiti every weekend.
Anthonys parents believe that he is old enough to manage his 2 a.m. curfew, and when he returns home, his parents are fast asleep. Anthony is an only child and rarely spends quality time with his parents. Anthonys parents abuse drugs and alcohol in his presence on a daily basis. Anthony suffers from undiagnosed depression and anxiety and has experienced suicidal ideations that are increasing in frequency.
