I just read this report on
"Taiwan “represents at once an affront to the narrative and an impediment to the regional ambitions of the Chinese Communist Party,” Ms. Tsai said last year."
The article notes that China’s military and political threats make the Taiwan Strait one of, if not the, hot spots in Asia. Xi Jinping seems to believe that he must "retake," "incorporate," "assimilate" (the Borg), or assert complete sovereignty over, the island in his lifetime. Were China to attempt a military invasion, what would the Taiwanese do? What would other countries in the region do? And what would/will the US do?
