Assignment: All good cultural research and cultural understanding involves asking good open-ended questions. For this assignment you are to simply write two meaningful questions you would like to ask a person living in your Adopted Country to further deepen your understanding of the country, its people, its culture and its views on health and well-being.
These are to be two questions that would require more than just few words to answer.They should stimulate description or explanation. It may help to look upon them as potential conversation starters and invitations to share more detailed information. Think about how to best introduce the question to the person before asking it in order to encourage greater thoughtful investment when answering the question. And ased on what you have learned about your Adopted Country at this point, how would you taylor your question specifically to your country.
Submit the two questions.You are not being asked to write any type of responses to the questions. What is being evaluated in this assignment is simply the quality of the two questions. Are they (1) reflecting a basic understanding of Global Health and culture (2) sensitive and respectul to the culture of your Adopted Country (3) expressing a sincere curiosity to learn more.
You can provide a short introduction or “set-up” to either question preparing the interviewee for the open-ended questions you are about to ask. (Beginning with a short introduction can help with receiving a more meaningful and explanatory answer.)
