Purpose
There are three purposes of this assignment:
The first purpose (part 1) for this assignment is for you to understand cloud computing in conjunction with business value. In addition, you will hone your research skills by locating several relevant and recent news articles relating to cloud computing.
The third purpose (part 3) of this assignment is for you to identify risks and security threats related to implementing a cloud solution and to be able to weigh the risks and threats against the benefits of moving to a cloud environment.
Assignment Instructions
Part 1
You will write a paper answering the question below. Write a minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 3 pages for your answer. Answer the question to the best of your ability utilizing the text and at least three outside resources for the question. More detailed and comprehensive answers will receive better grades.
Do not include the text of the question itself anywhere in your final submission. Include a cover page and a references page and make sure to properly format your submission using APA guidelines.
Based on your research and knowledge to date, locate three relevant and recent news articles related to a single topic in cloud computing. Include a brief summary of each article, and then synthesize the articles to create an interesting discussion. Relate main points in each article to something you have learned so far in the course. Show how the three articles are related and indicate how reading these articles has helped you understand the concepts of cloud computing.
Part 3:
For each question in this assignment, write a minimum of 1/2 page and a maximum of 1 page for your answer. Answer each question to the best of your ability utilizing the text and at least one outside resource for each question. More detailed and comprehensive answers will receive better grades. Answer the questions in order, and include a header for each question indicating the question number. If you skip a question, add the header for the question followed by a blank line and then proceed to the next question. After you have answered a question, cite your references before proceeding to the next question. Do not include the text of the question itself anywhere in your final submission. Include a cover page and a references page and make sure to properly format your submission using APA guidelines.
Question 1 – List the major risks and challenges of the cloud computing model and describe the important characteristics of each.
Question 2 Identify the major goals and benefits that may be achieved by using a cloud computing model. In your researched opinion, which is the most important consideration for a typical organization?
Question 3 – Complete a full text breakdown of the textbook diagram Figure 6.3 – How security policies and security mechanisms are used to counter threats, vulnerabilities, and risks caused by threat agents.
Question 4 – Discuss the issue of Security Policy Disparity as it relates to the concept of shared security responsibility.
Assignment Requirements
Create a Word document and create a title section within it called Part 1: Cloud Computing Research Paper. The paper should be a minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 4 pages in length (not counting title page and references page), with page to 1 page per question. The paper should be in APA format including a cover page and references page with all references in APA format. You should include in-text citations for all references.
In the same Word document, create a section that is titled Part 2: Cloud Essentials.
Take the quizzes as many times as you want in the time allotted by Linux Academy. When you feel good with your quiz results, take the necessary screen shots so that your scores are clear to your instructor. Insert the screen shots into your Word document. Note, if not all screen shots are present in the document to accurately record your score, you may receive 0 points. So, please be careful when taking screen shots of your results.
Finally, in the same Word document, create a final section titled Part 3: Cloud Security Paper. For each question in this assignment, write a minimum of 1/2 page and a maximum of 1 page for your answer. The paper should be a minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 4 pages in length (not including cover page and references page) with page to 1 page per question. The paper should be in APA format including a cover page and references page with all references in APA format. You should include in-text citations for all references.
Save your work and submit to the Module 2 Dropbox.

- A separate page at the end of your research paper should contain a list of references, in APA format. Use your textbook, the Library, and the internet for research.
- Be sure to cite both in-text and reference list citations were appropriate and reference all sources. Your sources and content should follow proper APA citation style. (It should include a cover sheet, paper is double spaced, in Times New Roman 12-point font, correct citations, Standard English with no spelling or punctuation errors, and correct references at the bottom of the last page.)
If work submitted for this competency assessment does not meet the minimum submission requirements, it will be returned without being scored.
