You are running for President. Whatever the statistics may be at any given moment, it is known that there are two major ideas that, when swung in either direction, can do each of the following: alter the level of trust and cooperation between the public and the police, alter crime rates for better or worse, alter instances of use of force, and alter the ability to have/maintain a safe community for a myriad of reasons!
Your assignment will be in the form of a paper and is required to answer the below two questions using research to support opinions, statistics (if you plan on claiming a statistic), and solutions as to exactly what you would do being sure to, again, support your ideas with research when applicable. A minimum of 3 quality resources is required (Wikipedia is NOT a quality resource). A minimum 3 full pages not counting your cover page and resource page is required. Any less than 3 full pages will result in a loss of points. Citations or proper footnotes are expected and points will be deducted for failing to adequately do so. A guide is above on the Moodle page, you can ask me, you can ask the school library, or you can search the internet for how to use citations or footnotes.
Give me your plan (if you win the Presidency) for both 1) Increasing public confidence in the criminal justice system and 2) Increasing public compliance with the criminal justice system. They are two separate terms so they should be two separate thoughts, hopefully, interwoven. This is your Presidential platform for criminal justice – what are you going to implement or press for nationally? Use *reliable* data to support your plan and be sure to cite your resources properly. Opinions are fine, but opinions alone do not get things done – so, again – use research to support your plan. You should write in the first person using "I", "my", "we", etc.
