Self Reflection/Reaction Paper
Throughout the semester, students are exposed to contemporary and historical influences on
leadership and management. Students engage in a variety of activities to increase exposure to
these influences. The purpose of this assignment is to integrate learning from activities
performed in this course and reflect on their meaning to the students’ understanding of health
care, and leadership and management.
Students will write a reflection of no more than 1,500 words (excluding title page and references)
using APA format. First-person (I, me, my) is permitted for this assignment. The reflection
should be a summary of students’ takeaways from the course. Describe what was learned over
the course of the semester and how it can be applied. Students are required to have a minimum of
eight (8) scholarly references to support their thoughts and ideas. As a framework and
minimally, students should answer the following questions:
Section 1 – Course topics, activities, case studies
Describe the leadership experience.
Explain how you, as a health care and health science leader, would develop and evaluate ethical
practice strategies for promoting patient safety and managing issues generated by health
disparities. In addition, identify and describe skills needed to guide, mentor, and support others
in their efforts to achieve excellence in practice.
Using the five Course Units as a framework, describe how the units experience exposed students
to and enhanced their understanding of each Course Unit.
