Write a 1,050-1,400-word essay developing an argument reflecting your answer to ONE of the following research questions. Your thesis statement should make your essential answer to the question.
- Should vaccinations be required for students to attend public school?
- Should self-driving cars be legal?
- Should sports be segregated by birth-gender?
- Should religious clubs be allowed in schools?
- Should Puerto Rico become a state?
Your essay should include the following:
- An appropriate introduction to establish the context of the issue or problem for your audience.
- A clear, emphatic thesis (the position statement)
- Have 2-4 main warrants (reasons) for that position, and develop those into strong, well-supported body paragraphs
- Logical, ethical, and pathetic (emotional) proofs as well as evidence from your researched sources (see Research Requirements below).
- Include a conclusion that clarifies the importance of this issue and its resolution to the current culture.
Research Requirements: Use 3 sources from the UOPX Library databases (you may use more than 3). Do not use sources outside of these databases. Sources must meet the following qualifications:
- Must be articles from the UOPX library databases–no Internet sources.
- Peer-reviewed (click on peer-reviewed button in the search form)
- Signed (have a specific author)
- Must be at least 2 pages in length
