Explain & critically evaluate Mill’s argument about the ‘competent judge.’ Has he convinced you that there are ‘higher’ pleasures?
Aim for about 3 pages. First (1), explain Mill’s argument, then (2) critically evaluate it. Your primary text for this paper is Mill’s book Utilitarianism (also Sandel’s essay, my comments, handout, etc).
