THE TQE METHOD
This protocol has students come up with their own Thoughts, lingering Questions, and Epiphanies from an assigned reading. Consider posting some of the “notes” you might want to remember from reading in outline form (like an electronic note card} with the most important thing about _______(certain disorder in module) as your thoughts. Then post some question you might still have and then the epiphany (the must know biggest thing to remember about the disorder). Short sweet and to the point! Pick something to write about that is not the easiest for you to understand and by writing about it you move it to a deeper remembering place in your brain.
Will give meaning to the discussion board and develop you as a community of learners!

This weeks assignments gave room for many questions, personally, with women’s health. Breast cancer, specifically.
Early detection of breast cancer helps prevent deaths and becomes easier to treat successfully because it has not spread. Breast cancer screening tests can be done to examine and majorly test to find the cancer disease in people who do not have the symptoms (American Cancer Society [ACS], n.d). All women with elevated and moderate risks of breast cancer should attend the screening to help manage it before it gets worse and maximize healing potentials. For women at moderate risk of getting breast cancer, mammogram, clinical exam, and self-exam can be done for screening (ACS, n.d). The high risk of cancer also attracts mammograms and MRI annually to a certain possible disease progression.
Something I would like to remember is the importance for all women to:
-Understand the limitations of mammograms in testing cancer, including what the screening is and is not capable of attending (ACS, n.d).
– Appreciate that those at moderate risk of cancer at any age should avoid clinical examination of their breasts.
I also feel that having knowledge of breast cancer assessment tools to healthcare providers that can help manage the condition is important. Such information, can help to identify cancer in early stages and initiate therapy. The tools which can examine second-degree, both family sides, cousins and aunts, and first-degree families should align with ACS recommendations for their effectiveness and accuracy (ACS, n.d). This evaluation helps to decide if a woman should have an MRI screening. However, this risk assessment tool is not precise since it only gives an approximate estimate of breast cancer risk.
The lingering questions in my mind are:
– What types of breast cancer can or exist?
– How quickly can breast cancer spread in the body?
– Which hormones increase the chances of getting breast cancer?
