BusyMart was a local store that “everyone” seemed to stop by on their way home from work to pick up one or two items. It was a fairly small store, and it was owned by the Strothers family. They generally employed a few teenagers to run the two registers the store had.
An hour ago, an unexpected snowstorm hit the area around BusyMart, and panicked citizens dashed in to grab milk and bread to take home. The registers were backed up with long lines, and the Strother’s family members were busy bagging and putting out more stock as it was flying off their shelves. As more people came in, snow was tracked into the warm store.
Mrs. Wrenfield, who was wearing 5-inch high heels, ran into the store to escape the cold wind, slipped on the wet floor, and broke her ankle.
She believes that the Strothers family was negligent because they didn’t mop up their wet floor or put up a “wet floor” sign.
Do some research and find some similar court cases (at least two cases). Summarize them, cite them in APA format, and explain how they are similar to this case. Then incorporate material from this module to explain the concept of negligence. Finally, determine if Mrs. Wrenfield is right about the Strothers family being negligent. Make sure to explain your rationale.
