Discussion question:
Pay attention to the Ballet Giselle(1841) which is shown towards the end of the vimeo video above.
Here is a brief summary of theplot: A peasant girl meets a nobleman dressed as a commoner and falls in lovewith him. When another peasant who loves Giselle, named Hilarion, outs thenobleman, Giselle realizes that she cannot be with him, goes mad and dies. Hilarion goes to grieve at Gisselles grave,he is greeted by spirits of dead women called Willis, who threw him into ariver and killed him. When the nobleman came, the Wilis sentenced him to deathas well, but the spirit of Giselle saves his life, and she then departs atpeace to the afterlife.
