What is justice in acquisition?" Explain Nozick’s concept. 

The entitlement theory by Nozick has three different principles. The first is the original acquisition of holdings also known as the principle of acquisitions, has to do with how things that are came to be owned, unowned and what types of things can be held. The second is the transfer of holding (justice in transfer) from one person to another. This could include gifts, voluntary giving it to the other person or even fraud. The last principle is the rectification of injustice and it has to do with holdings that are unjustly acquired and states that nobody is entitled to a holding except by the principle of acquisition being present. The theory outlines that you are only entitled to the belongings by the justice in acquisition, transfer or principle of rectification. Nozick believes each person in entitled to their own things even if others do not have what you may have.

What is the veil of ignorance?" Explain Rawls’s thought experiment.

John Rawls wanted to find a way to identify a reliable model for identifying if a situation is fair or not.  Rawls achieves this with his Theory of Justice, and particularly with what he calls, “The Veil of Ignorance.” Rawls asks us to imagine ourselves as being conscious and able to understand the world before we were born, with no prior knowledge of what our lives and futures would be like. We wouldn’t know what our house or neighborhood would be like, nor whom our parents would be or our financial station. This is the veil of ignorance.  Rawls then asks us- if you have no idea where you will end up in your society, would you still want to be born into it?  If the answer is no, then we have more work to do to develop a fair society.
