Research Paper Guidelines
PURPOSE:

To provide the student(s) with the opportunity to research and communicate a current patient- centered care topic through researching current Nursing literature relating to Mental Health issues in order to provide quality and safe nursing outcomes.

PAPER GENERAL GUIDELINES

The official book to be used throughout the nursing curriculum will be the most current edition of: Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
1. The entire paper should be double-spaced.
2. Margins should be at least one inch.
3. All pages should be numbered in sequence, starting with title page.
4. Indent each paragraph 5-7 spaces. Each paragraph should be no shorter than three sentences but no longer than five.
5. Level headings should accurately reflect the organization of the paper.
6. Any unnecessary abbreviations should be eliminated.
7. Whether paraphrasing or quoting an author directly, the student must credit the source. For a direct quotation in the text, give the author, year, and page number in parenthesis. All references are cited both in the text and in the reference list.
8. The period is placed after the parenthesis and inside the quotation mark.
9. Check all references in text and reference list to be sure spelling and dates correspond.
