Observe two different service delivery models (e.g., self-contained, full inclusion, resource, or speech) within a school setting for at least 1 hour each.
Observe the following in each delivery model:
Responsibilities of teachers and support staff
Classroom management techniques
Adaptations to the learning environment
Accommodations or modifications
Interview each teacher to find out their rationale for lesson planning, instruction, and classroom management for that service delivery model.
Refer to the Service Delivery Model Interview Questions document when conducting your interview.
Note the responsibilities of teachers and support staff, physical classroom layout, and how the environment is adapted to meet student needs in each delivery model.
Write a 700- to 875-word paper, and integrate each interview and observation into your paper as you describe each of the following points:
Type of service delivery models you observed and the exceptionalities they service
The stakeholders involved and how they collaborated to meet student needs, including strategies used to guide paraeducators to do the same
Instructional accommodations and modifications used in each service delivery model
Behavioral accommodations and modifications used in each service delivery model
Description of the physical environment, such as bulletin boards, seating arrangements, displays for instruction, and any physical accommodations
Technology (including assistive technology) incorporated
Resources or professional organizations recommended for special education teachers
Self-assessment or problem-solving strategies teachers may use to improve teaching practice
Format the paper according to APA guidelines.
