personal essay for graduate school at NCCU majoring in school counseling.
It needs to include a passage about wanting to help shape the minds of the youth in urban communities. Needs to include: GRE score-
verbal Score 150- 44% percentile
Quantitative: Score: 140- 7%percentile
Analytical Writing: Score:3-13 % percentile.
Explain that GRE was taken on the computer with only 2 weeks to study. Previous GRE scores became outdated in October 2021 and I did not know.
Please include current GPA from NCAT graduate school- 3.57 with a total of 21 credit hours. undergraduate GPA from NCAT 3.5. Graduated with honors ( Magna Cum Laude) in December 2015.
*Include previous teaching job as special education teacher for 3 years between July 2018- January 2021. Include current job since February 2021- working as a Co-Responder for Integrated Family Services. As a co-responder I work with mentally disabled individuals, individuals in a mental health crisis, and individuals with substance abuse issues. I connect these individuals to the mental health services that they need. including linkage to hospitals, outpatient therapy, detox centers, primary care provider, etc. I love working with these individuals.
Include that I decided to stop teaching due to COVID and new job opportunity. Include that I decided to transition from NCAT to NCCU due to COVID and not being able to relocate back to Greensboro NC as originally planned.
*Include my desires to eventually open up my own community center, after school program and counseling center for minorities and communities in poverty.
Include a statement about the importance of HBCU’s and that I would like to continue my education at NCCU because I would like to show the youth that I encounter that they can accomplish their dreams and goals while attending an HBCU. I want to show the students that their education would not be of any less quality than that of PWI.
