Moises Kaufman, the director of the Laramie Project,
deliberately references Elie Weisel’s Speech, “The Perils of
Indifference.” Many times throughout The
Laramie Project, the phrase, “live and let live” was repeated. Does this
phrase reflect the value of tolerance, or acceptance?
After reading Weisel’s speech and selecting key phrases
from the speech to connect to the play, write a persuasive essay on the
consequences of being a bystander or being indifferent. Draw on different
perspectives from the play and attitudes of indifference or neutrality–examine
tone, word choice, and other elements of drama/literary devices while you
