Pharmacotherapy in Clinical Practice

In this initial course discussion, we will address pharmacotherapy to clinical nursing practice and the various ways that we learn about the latest drug therapies. For this discussion posting, you will explore the websites of drug industries and share information with your peers. You may choose from any of these websites: U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), FDA Orange Book, United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary (USP-NF).

In your initial discussion post, each student will: 

1. Provide a brief summary about the website. 
2. Discuss how this information informs clinical practice. 
3. Support your opinion on whether or not you believe the website is a useful resource to stay up to date with drug therapy.
4. EVERY INITIAL POST MUST BE FOLLOWED WITH A THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTION ABOUT THE DISCUSSION.
5. Research and references are an important AND required part of our discussions. They support your viewpoints and/or reinforce your information or opinions. These MUST be included in your initial post and at least two of your follow-up posts.
   

This activity will be graded using the discussion rubric. Please use the rubric as a guide when you are creating your initial discussion post and peer responses. Your responses should address all criteria in the discussion rubric and contribute to the overall knowledge of the learning community.
