- What do you think a key strength as well as a weakness/challenge would be for each of the four personality styles depicted in this article: Pioneers, Drivers, Integrators, and Guardians? Which type do you believe you most closely resemble, and why?
- What value does the idea of ‘pulling your opposites closer’ have on sustaining a team that’s diverse yet also effective and harmonious?
- How can a team identify each member’s style early on and be able to leverage its strengths in terms of the member’s team role, responsibilities, and tasks? How could this be addressed in a social contract, as we examined in the previous week’s discussion?
- What are ‘cascades’ and their potential impact to a team and ultimately, the implications for an organization? Have you ever experienced a cascade as a team member (academic, professional, athletic)? If so, what was the situation and the outcome?
- What is your opinion of the tactics recommended for facilitating positive and inclusive communication on a team – engaging everyone to draw out each member’s input, facilitating a dialogue for the less-represented styles, conducting individual brainstorming, and encouraging empathy by considering a situation from the viewpoint of the other styles? Do you have any other ideas for other possible team communication/collaboration techniques?
