Literature Review, PowerPoint Presentation & Journal Submission

Literature Review

  • Identify a research topic that is of interest to you. The topic should demonstrate your grasp of research and practice in a particular content area. This research can include either or both content and pedagogy! 
  • Once you have a topic chosen, you are to find at least 10 relevant sources to further develop your research topic. Your paper should discuss new and innovative thinking about classroom practice and/or curriculum, and the potential impact of your research on student learning. The research articles could include topics in your particular content area of education (teaching, learning, assessment, misconceptions, professional development, use of technology, conceptual change, issues of equity and access, etc.).  The source of articles should include a variety of peer reviewed articles, electronic journals, ERIC documents, books and/or texts. The paper should describe the research in each of the ten articles as well as an overview of insights and/or best practices learned from research on the chosen topic.   This is NOT an annotated bibliography. The paper should be formatted in APA format.
  • The final page of this paper will be the proof of journal submission. That may come later in the semester, and that is okay. You should not upload this to Taskstream until the proof of submission (a screenshot of the email confirmation) is added.

Research PPT:

  • Develop a six (6) to 10 slide PowerPoint presentation (PPT) that provides an overview of your research. The last slide should provide information about the professional journal that you researched and some of the requirements for submission.

Journal Submission:

  • You will be choosing a practitioner-friendly journal to send a completed copy of your research paper to at the end of this course, and it is important to know the requirements for the journal you will choose. 
  • You will need to research the requirements for submission to the professional journals listed below. You will share with peers the journal to which you wish to submit and list at least three of the guidelines for submission to that particular journal. Guidelines may impact anything from content to formatting. You may find a journal that is not on this list. However, please submit all possible journal options for approval. 

 

This component is worth 150 pts total, split between 3 documents: literature review (70 pts), PowerPoint (70 pts), and Journal submission (10 pts)
