1. Review Ch. 5 Sect. 4. The content in each of the 3 subsections (The Arts, Philosophy, and Science) will require further research {WORLD BOOK STUDENT: (click on attached link) NEWSELA articles, and GOOGLE IMAGES }. Also, revisit Ch. 4 Sect. 3 in the "Ancient Greece Part 1" unit. Go to the last page of the second subsection. Review the enclosed text and photograph, "Linking to Today". Read the 1st paragraph ONLY under the green passage title, "Let the Games Begin." This paragraph will serve as a starting point for your fourth area of research (Ancient Olympic Games).
2. Use the NEWSELA articles. Use WORLD BOOK STUDENT to research by typing "key words" from the text in the search bar. {ex: The Arts > Parthenon, Ancient Olympic Games > Ancient Olympic Games} Use the World Book article to find other "key words", click on them, and "dig deeper". Take notes on content you find in the articles generated by your key word searches that was not provided in your text. Use the same "key words" to type in the search bar of GOOGLE IMAGES. {ex: Philosophy > Socrates} Begin to save images that represent your "key words" search.
3. Create 4 Google Slides that contains a picture and word collage combination for each of your 4 areas of research. Each slide should represent one of the areas, exclusively.
Each slide will be worth 6 pts. x 4 areas = 24 pts. Each individual slide will be graded based on 2 criteria:
A. Content Accuracy (on topic)
– completely accurate 3 pts.
– some off topic content 2 pts.
– a lot of mistakes 0-1 pt.
B. Word/Graphic Ratio (you MUST have at least 7-10 word sets with corresponding graphics for full credit)
– 7-10 or more equally balanced word sets with corresponding graphics 3 pts.
– 3-6 words sets with corresponding graphics AND/OR imbalance 2 pts.
– 0-2 word sets with corresponding graphics AND/OR completely uneven 0-1 pt.
