The QRST will be limited to one page only. A cover page and references are required but are not included in the one-page count. Sources for the topics will often start with the Business Research Methods textbook required for the course; however, additional sources must be consulted. The Business Research Methods textbook is only an introduction or starting point. Business follows the writing style of the American Psychological Association (APA). The APA publishes its own style manual, which addresses many technical aspects of writing. Beginning to learn those technical components now will help you in future studies and will help improve your business communications.
The idea of quick search is to develop the skills of finding answers quickly. This skill will be valuable to you in your career. The one-page limit is to help you sort the important facts from the other “stuff”. A minimum of three resources are required for each quick search. Be sure to use credible sources. Sources deemed unreliable by your instructor will not be accepted. Quick search topics are meant to be guides to your learning but are not all inclusive. You may find it necessary to make other quick searches of other topics in order to complete the EBDM project.

Length and Structure
Each write-up will consist of three pages. These include a cover page, body, and a separate page with references. A sample of this plus the Cover page format is available by following this link. Download link.The body page has a strict limit of one page. Exceeding the one-page limit will result in a 10-point grade reduction. The point of this is for you to learn to get your communications down to the critical information. Remove unnecessary information and focus on a tight cohesive story. The format is also addressed in Chapter 2 of the APA manual; however, the APA example is far more involved than this assignment and has many elements that are unnecessary to us now.

- Write your QRST in Microsoft Word and attach the file using the Browse My Computer button in the Upload Assignment area.
- Do not put a main heading on the page (it takes up a line and this is just a 1-page assignment) but you do need a running header (see example posted).
- Follow a standard writing outline – introduction, main body or discussion paragraphs, conclusion.
- Follow the Writing Specifications and Writing Style and Grammar instructions in the Syllabus.
- The first and last paragraph should be short (2 sentences) – unless you have a citation listed in it.
- Each discussion paragraph needs at least 1 citation that is unique from other paragraphs.
- Therefore, there should be at least three references
- The assignment is only 1 page, so use every line; however, 1-inch margins all the way around.
- Do not use bullet lists – use commas if you need to list items.
- Page numbers are not needed in the in-text citation unless you are citing a direct quote (see page 179 in APA Manual).
- Do not use too many direct quotes. This is a 1-page paper, so you should have ¼ of the page or less in quotes. Each quote should be needed to support the paper, otherwise you need to put it in your own words.
- Follow the correct reference format (see the APA style manual and/or Purdue’s OWL.
- Make sure you use the reference header (format/page # in APA manual) as required for this class.
- Put the references in alphabetical order by author.
- Credible sources for this assignment have a listed author name/organization name.
- If you do not know who wrote the research how do you know it is credible?
- Make sure that all references are current – published in the last 25 years (1994 – 2019).

Style
With regard to technical style, there are two chapters of the APA manual that are most important. Those are Chapter 6, which specifies how we cite the work of others in our writing. Next, Chapter 7 specifies how the reference page is formatted. Beyond the APA manual, there are two links in the Writer’s Resources area that can be used to help learn APA style. In particular they are the APA Style center, a resource subscribed to by the Tarleton Library, and APA Style – Purdue OWL. Look for those links in Writer’s Resources
