If you would like to receive up to 10 points of extra credit on your final grade, please complete the following 2 – 3-page paper.
First, you need to watch the Netflix Documentary – The Social Dilemma. This is a thought-provoking documentary on the impact of social media use.
Your reflection paper should answer each of the following questions:
- What is one part of the film that really resonates with you? Connect it to a personal experience. (2 points)
- After watching the film, do you plan to change anything regarding your use of your social media? If so, what? If not, why not? (2 points)
- Now that you have watching the movie, can you connect the concepts in the movie to concepts from any two chapters that we have covered in this class this semester. (3 points per chapter)
For each Chapter:

- Mention the name of the Chapter.
- Connect any part of the movie to any of the concepts from this chapter and elaborate on why and how you made this connection.
This assignment focuses on different value rubrics as assigned by the college:
- Written Communication (how clearly through their writing, a student can explain concepts from the movie, and also support their choice of chapter with evidence from the corresponding topic chapter using appropriate grammar and syntax)
- Critical Thinking (how well a student can connect information from the different chapters to the movie, and also reflect on their own use of social media and how it is affecting their lives)
- Inquiry and Analysis (how well a student can explain and analyze what they seen the movie and analyze these in relation to psychological concepts they learnt during this semester)
