My practicum is at the Mental Health Court in Lexington Kentucky and the clients wework with are Substance abusers.
Interview your supervisor or other staff at the agency to determine a specific agency policy or a local, state, or federal policy that affects your agencys work. Then provide a brief description of the policy and reflect on the following questions.
- Does the policy help or hinder agency clients’ access to services? In what ways? Give examples.
- How does your agency negotiate, mediate, or advocate for clients affected negatively by this policy? Give examples of how your agency might advocate for its clients to receive services or work to change or enhance a policy that has a negative impact.
Note: this is a reflection paper that only needs to be 1 to 1.5 pages in length. It can be written more informally than the Field Education Reports.
