Question: Explain the topic of Carpe diem developed in Robert Herrick’s poem and how he invites women to enjoy the joys of youth. Walter Raleigh, however, sees love as a mistake. He replies to the traditional Renaissance poems characterized by earnest, idealistic shepherds in a skeptical, clear-eyed fashion, turning down his proposal. Why do you think he wrote it like that?
