Required: to download the2019 or 2020 annual report from a major North American retail company, reviewthe financial statements, read the notes and create an understanding of thenotes.
You must receive approval of your company from the teacher and you maynot choose Apple Inc. Choose a companyin an industry that you feel you might one day like to work or be in.
You have to read and understand the notes to the financial statement andprovide comments in paragraph format about them.
Your report should be at least two pages, single spaced (12 font TimesNew Roman or Arial), in length and if needed properly sourced. As well, it must not be copied directly fromthe annual report (no cut and paste is allowed)
The comments should include, but not limited to:
How do they segment revenue? Whatis their revenue recognition policy? What is their inventory valuation policy? Do they have any outstandinglegal issues? Who provided the audit ofthe annual report? How are executivespaid? Who is on the Board of Directors? Any conflicts (conflicts of interest) withthe Board of Directors and the Management Team? Where the company is legally registered? Where is the company located? Anything else that is interesting?
