The midterm assignment will cover Snell and Bohlander chapters 1 through 8 as well as other assigned course materials. The assignment will consist of four essay questions, each of which counts for 25 percent of your midterm grade. For each of the essay questions listed below, you may use your own school district (or any other of your choosing) or you may create an imaginary (but realistic) school district. No matter which path you choose, you are required not only to create a theoretical foundation in order to defend your position but you also must apply the principles you suggest.

In addition, describe the other steps your district might employ to ensure that it is retaining desired personnel for the betterment of the organization and all employees.

  1. Nearly every organization in both the areas of education and business strives to be socially responsible. One key aspect of social responsibility involves the level to which an organization diversifies its workforce. In this essay question, explain the key challenges related to developing and maintaining a diverse workforce. In addition, devise strategies to diversify your own district or the district you are analyzing. Be sure that you illustrate the major attributes of a diversified workforce, beyond the desire to be socially responsible.

  1. One of the greatest challenges for human resources managers is that of devising an appropriate as well as a feasible process to measure employee performance. Describe a performance management program that not only ensures a viable measurement process but also allows for easy deployment and engages participants. Keep in mind that most managers list the performance management/evaluation process as their number one fear in managing employees. Explain why your plan is viable and how it avoids negativity.
