Overview
Using course readings, videos, assignments, attained content knowledge and social media analysis, students will work to provide an analysis of an organization’s social media efforts. This assignment is designed for students to explore the core concepts of the course. Organizations use social media for a variety of reasons, which include providing customer service, showing thought leadership, raising awareness, influencing desire, encouraging use, facilitating purchases and creating loyalty. 

Guidelines

·      Identify an organization that participates in social media (must be approved by Dr. Sisco).

·      Students must analyze their chosen organization’s social media tools and channels: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, blogs etc. 

·       Case study should have heavy emphasis on core course concepts: authenticity, transparency, ethics, listening/monitoring, outreach/engagement, building conversation/community, strategic planning. 

·       The goal of the assignment is to assess the company’s social media strategy. Remember to be analytical – refrain from basing your assessments on opinion and emotion! 

·       Students will also have to create a social media content calendar of 1 month of suggested social content for the organization’s social platforms (2 of your choosing). 

Format 

·       8-10 pages, APA style, double-spaced, 12-point font, which should include the following sections: 

·       Introduction – introduce your company and provide a description of what social media platforms they’re currently using. 

·       Evaluation – review each social media channel (include examples and screenshots whenever possible to support your analysis). 

·       Students should consider Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, blogs, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. 

·       Assessment – assess the overall social media strategy and make at least three recommendations upon your research, evaluation and assessment. Content from every course module will be heavily used in this section of your paper. 

·       Sources (not included in page length) – Students must reference sources on a citation page at the end of the paper.

Grade
• This assignment is worth 30% of your final grade.
