Each sport has unique features a particular demands on athletes that will lead to common injures within the sport itself.  Just as ACL tears are more common in sports that involve jumping, pivoting or rapid changes in motion, HEENT injury risks tend to increase in sports that involve a projectile, ball, or players in close contact.  In this assignment, you will be investigating HEENT injuries found within a chosen sport.  You will be sharing the findings of your investigation in a student paper.

  • On-field management of the injury.
  • Treatment of the injury. 
  • Return to play after the injury.
  • Long-term issues(if any) that result from the injury.
• Underlying Structure Injury 
  • Explain one of the common underlying structural HEENT injuries that occur within the sport.
  • Anatomy involved in the injury.
  • On-field management of the injury.
  • Treatment of the injury. 
  • Return to play after the injury. 
  • Long-term issues(if any) that result from the injury.

Prevention 

• Propose a prevention scheme aimed at decreasing the overall percentage of HEENT injuries that occur within the sport.
