(This was my introduction for the essay plz)
Although I am one of the East-Asian students who are culturally close to China and also experienced the oriental perspective from the western people during my study in Europe, I also have myself as an oriental object and hold the view of occidentalism toward the west. This is why I particularly get interested in the definition of identity/nationality in domestic China and the other orientalism applications conducted by Han-people to the rest of the minority people Minzu, the Chinese racism toward the foreigner including toward the western people, African people throughout the history.
Therefore, in the final essay, I would like to focus on how the identity or ethnicity are shared or difference between the largest ethnicity Han and the rest of Minzu(Uyghur of Xinjiang, Mosuo or Na of the Sichuan-Yunnan border, and the Tibetan people, etc.), and will analyze the rough menacing of being Han-ness and its internal division among such as Hakka, Cantonese, or Subei people vice Vesak to Minzu ethnicity. Additionally, address the way of different recognition and the relationship between ethnicity and nationality in China domestically, plus their racism concept for anti-black people, and Occidentalism since the long trade history of the silk road and the post-mao period.
As a structure, first, I would like to revise the concept of identity, ethnicity which China today holds as a Han, or Minzu, and its difference and sharing as a nationality as Chinese.
Second, I will describe which Schein Luisa also mentioned as a massive example of domestic Chinese internal orientalism, especially in tourism and the exotic entertainment industry. Third, I am interested in how China convinced their west view(occidentalism), especially after the post-Mao period.
Fourth, I will describe how the Chinese people have racism concept especially for the non-western people as a colored race, such as an example from anti-black people.
