In one-to-two pages, double-spaced, expand upon your own thinking about the truth at this juncture in the semester, with a specific focus on, in your own experience, the role writing plays in communicating, creating, obscuring, enforcing, or illuminating the truth.

You could take many possible approaches to this project. Here are but a few possibilities:

·         Reflect on a time something you read changed your understanding about the truth on a subject. How did the author(s) go about changing your mind? What lessons about writing can you take away from this experience?

·         Tell a story about a time you told the truth or lied in your own writing. What effect did it have? What possible lessons might students of this class take from the story?

·         What is a truth about writing (its social/educational function, issues of style and grammar, etc) that you have heard. Where did this idea come from? Why did it seem true at the time? Is it still true to you?
