Discussion Guidelines:

Three posts minimum. The initial forum response is due by Thursday at 11:55 p.m. EST and should be a substantive response to the discussion prompt. For peer replies, respond to at least two of your classmates by Sunday at 11:55 p.m. EST and give meaningful replies that advance the discussion.

Treat these as college-level writing assignments, not e-mail or text messages. Proofread your work and use the spell check every time, and if you need extra help with writing, type first into a Word document so you can utilize both the spelling and grammar checks, then carefully review the suggestions and paste your comments back here. All writing assignments — in either language — are an opportunity to continue to develop best practices in writing.

Part 1: You are an explorer rummaging through uncharted territory! Does the APUS library have any foreign language learning tools?

Explore the tabs at the top to the research Spanish content and helpful tools.

1. Find two resources to help you be a successful language learner.  
2. In your post list the resource tools and discuss their functions, accessibility and usefulness. 
3. Share something new that you have discovered. (you must write a minimum of 10 complete English sentences) 
4. BE SURE TO CITE YOUR SOURCES.

Part II: Is Spanish an asset for professional goals? 

1. Choose a career field that may require or be enhanced by Spanish language skills. 
2. Use the APUS library to find articles, books or other sources that highlight the importance of Spanish for that career.
3. Summarize what you find in your own words. (you must write a minimum of 5 complete English sentences) 
4. Reminder: Use quotation marks for text copied from articles, books etc. 

Reply to at least two other students regarding your thoughts on the resources/career field. Each peer reply should be a minimum of 5 sentences. 

• Your "reply" posts should respond to specific information discussed in other student posts and should stimulate and encourage further discussion. Your two reply posts are due each Sunday.
