Directions:

Write a short story that is at least 7 sentences long using the “story structure” below and in which you employ both dramatic irony and situational irony once. You don’t need to number your sentences, but you may do so if you wish.
Then write a short passage of about 50 words in which you explain what impacts you think these uses of irony are likely to have on your audience and how you might use these forms of irony to create emotion in the reader if you expanded the story.


Story Structure:

Sentence no. 1 should begin: “Once upon a time there lived ….” 

Sentence no. 2 should begin: “Everyday [insert main character’s name here] got up and then ….”

Sentence no. 3 should begin: “But then one day something that couldn’t be ignored happened ….”

Sentence no. 4 should begin: “And because of this [insert main character’s name here] had to ….

Sentence no. 5 should begin: “Finally, after many hardships, [insert main character’s name here] managed to ….”

Sentence no. 6 should begin: “So, from then on ….”

Sentence no. 7 should begin: “The moral of the story is….”
